In affirmative sentences, the past simple of the verb to be is was for first and third person singular (I, he, she, it).
For second person singular and plurals (we, you, they) we always use were.
In negative form, we put not after was or were; the contracted forms are wasn't and weren't.
In questions, we put was or were before the subject.
In the game below, choose the correct option to make meaningful sentences. The plus sign (+) means affirmative verb and the minus sign (-) means negative verb. Get a question correct to try and score a penalty shot against a goalie. Keep your eye on the target or you might miss!
